Ramroot Festival Denied Premises Licence by Lincolnshire Council Weeks Before Debut

A new dance music festival in Lincolnshire has been denied a premises licence by the local council just weeks before its debut.

Ramroot Festival, set to take place at Arena UK in Allington, Lincolnshire, from July 4 - 7, is expected to welcome around 1,500 attendees for its inaugural edition in less than a month.

More than 75 artists are scheduled to perform, including notable names such as Fabio & Grooverider, gyrofield, Riz La Teef, SP:MC, Donna Leake, Joe Armon-Jones, DJ Flight, Manga Saint Hilare, 1-800 GIRLS, and many more over the four-day event.

According to the BBC, councillors expressed concerns regarding the event during a committee meeting on Tuesday, June 10, particularly highlighting issues related to traffic and security in the local vicinity.

The festival is planned to occur across two 30-acre fields, with the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) indicating that 400 tickets have already been sold, with an additional 1,100 anticipated to attend.

Following the committee meeting, South Kesteven District Council rejected the organisers licence application due to worries about alcohol consumption and the absence of fencing around the venue, as reported by the BBC.

Festival organiser Niall Walker mentioned during the meeting that he expected most attendees to use public transport and shuttle buses to reach the site, which should alleviate significant traffic concerns in the area.

“There are a lot of festivals struggling at the moment, its a very difficult industry,” he stated. “I know many people whose favorite festivals have just been cancelled, and wed love to help create a new home for those individuals.”

Walker has not yet confirmed whether the festival will proceed. Ramroot Festival has also not provided any additional updates on social media. They have a 21-day window to appeal the council’s decision.
