A Scottish DJ has made his debut in the UK Top 40 Singles Chart after his remix of Beluga Lagoons The Glen gained popularity on TikTok.

Levi Heron, hailing from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, originally crafted the track in January as a birthday present for his mothers 50th. “She showed me the track and said: Do you think you could do a remix of this?, and I thought, Ill try it,” he shared.

Since its release, The Glen (Levi Heron remix) has attracted millions of streams on TikTok, with users creating dances, memes, and more to the sound of Herons reinterpretation of the 2019 Scottish indie-folk song.

Incorporating elements of trance, hardcore, and more, Heron describes his unique musical style as "Cèil-tech," blending Gaelic folk ceilidh music with techno.

After the tracks viral success on TikTok, Heron uploaded it to YouTube, where it has received nearly five million views: “Record companies were calling me from all over for weeks," he remarked. “I had to get a manager and hes been handling it for me for the last few weeks."

Having begun his DJ journey at the age of eight, Heron had seldom performed outside his hometown until this year. According to reports, the 29-year-old has now left his job as a fish farmer to pursue music full-time, thanks to a record deal with Sony Music.

“Before we had kids, every month wed be going away to a rave. Now people are starting to listen to my music instead of me going to listen to other peoples music. Its unbelievable," he expressed.
