Tim Reaper expands his sound beyond jungle and d’n’b on new EP
Tim Reaper has stepped up on Scratcha’s DRMTRK label with an EP titled ‘First Rhythms’.
The five-track release explores a “grimey take on UK funky and gqom.”
Speaking about the new sonic territory, he says: “This is my first proper release of music that isn’t jungle or drum ‘n’ bass, and my appreciation for other kinds of music is something I’ve sort of kept to myself for most of my career. But now, I don’t feel as concerned about letting it be out in the open. It’s been a fun challenge to actually finish these tunes, as I usually make them for my own enjoyment without really thinking about the end result or how others might perceive them. So I appreciate that Scratcha was willing to let me do something like this for DRMTRK.”
