Ibiza Rocks has reportedly indicated that it will undergo safety improvements after three deaths were linked to balcony falls at the hotel and music venue in recent months.

19-year-old Gary Kelly died after falling from the fourth floor of the hotel at 12:40AM on Monday, July 21, weeks after 26-year-old Evan Thompson died after falling from the sixth floor on July 7. In April, an Italian woman also died after falling from a balcony at Ibiza Rocks as she was reportedly attempting to locate her room key.

Ibiza Rocks issued a statement following Kellys death, announcing that it was suspending all planned events at the venue in a mark of respect to "those affected by the recent tragedies".

The San Antonio-based venue resumed programming on Saturday (July 26), just five days after the tragic incident, sharing a statement via Instagram confirming that "initial investigations" had concluded.

"Over the past week, weve focused on supporting those sadly affected by recent incidents and paused our events programme out of respect for that process," the statement reads. "During this time, weve taken the opportunity to review the strong safety measures already in place across the hotel and look at where we can go further".

"Were also being clearer about our expectations around respectful behaviour and personal responsibility," it continues. "A safe and positive environment is something we all contribute to, so were encouraging all guests to look out for their friends, trust their instincts and speak to a member of the team if they need help".

According to The Scottish Sun, San Antonio Mayor Marcos Serra has urged the hotel and music venue to "reinforce existing protocols" and "adopt stricter safety measures" in a recent meeting.

Sources close to San Antonio Town Hall told The Scottish Sun that Ibiza Rocks had "indicated it was willing" to raise its balcony railings, despite "insisting" that they currently meet legal requirements on the island.

The family and friends of Evan Thompson raised concerns over the safety of Ibiza Rocks hotel balconies following his death, with his sister stating that improvements would "save upset from further families having to go through this unbelievable pain".
