London venue Troxy to undergo refurbishment following £1.5 million investment

London’s historic venue Troxy is set to undergo refurbishment after being backed by a £1.5 million investment from both its landlords and entertainment conglomerate Broadwick Group.

The Grade II-listed, art deco music venue – which sits on Commercial Road in Stepney, east London – will look to bring “disused” parts of the building back into use through renovations.

It follows news of Troxy’s partnership with Broadwick Group as it enters a “new era” almost 20 years after it opened under the Troxy name, and close to 100 years since the building first opened as a cinema.

“With big plans already on the horizon, including thoughtful venue developments and new ways to use the space, we’re ready to take Troxy to the next level,” says Tom Sutton-Roberts, Managing Director of Troxy.

“[We’re looking to deliver] even more unforgettable experiences across music, culture, and beyond, while staying true to the people and spirit that make it special.”

The partnership has seen both Troxy’s landlords and Broadwick Group put down a huge £1.5 million investment into refurbishing the historic venue, which they say is “currently underway”.

It marks the latest phase in the building’s “ambitious” restoration process, aiming to improve customer experience, and make older parts of the building usable again.

Troxy has said it will “expand” its offerings following the renovation, continuing to host a wide span of music programming, while also hosting “cultural showcases, film and TV production, creative hires, and brand activations”.

“We’re incredibly proud to support the next chapter, one that not only protects its soul but also unlocks new potential across music, culture, and experience,” says Simon Tracey, CEO of Broadwick Group.
