145 individuals reported being stabbed with syringes during France’s annual Fête de la Musique event over the weekend.

Fête de la Musique occurs every year on June 21 throughout France, promoting musicians to perform in the streets and local neighborhoods.

The interior ministry stated that 145 people reported being attacked with syringes during the celebrations, although it remains unclear if these incidents were primarily cases of needle spiking, which involves using drugs like rohypnol and GHB to sedate victims.

Among the reported cases, 13 were in Paris, including a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man, both of whom felt unwell after allegedly being pricked by needles in separate incidents.

“Some victims were taken to hospital for toxicological tests,” the ministry noted. Investigations have been launched following reported syringe attacks on three individuals in Paris.

12 people have been arrested across France, including four in Angoulême, who are suspected of targeting around 50 victims, according to a police source.

This year’s Fête de la Musique attracted massive crowds nationwide, with millions gathering to celebrate. Authorities reported “unprecedented crowds” in Paris.

Over 370 individuals were reportedly arrested on suspicion of other offenses, nearly 90 of whom were in Paris. 14 people sustained injuries, including a 17-year-old who was found with stab wounds to the abdomen, along with 13 law enforcement members who were also injured.

Additionally, several events scheduled for the weekend as part of the celebrations were canceled due to extreme heat, with weather forecasts predicting temperatures reaching 36 degrees.
