Tennessees Bonnaroo festival was stopped after just one day last week due to extreme rainfall that rendered the site "difficult to manage" and left numerous attendees with damaged tents.

Performers scheduled to take the stage from Friday to Sunday at the festival in Manchester (US) included Justice, Tyler, The Creator, John Summit, Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, and others.

In a statement shared via Instagram on Friday (June 13), the festival team expressed: "We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo."

"Today, the National Weather Service provided us with an updated forecast indicating significant and steady precipitation that will lead to worsening camping and egress conditions in the coming days."

The festival further explained that the rain had made parts of the camping area "difficult to manage," necessitating prioritization of attendees with accessibility needs for evacuation.

During the festivals first day (June 12), heavy rain impacted many campers, with local news broadcaster capturing footage of fields filled with destroyed tents.

"We have poured our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision," the festival continued. "Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity, and your unwavering Bonnaroovian spirit."

Bonnaroo is providing refunds to guests affected by the cancellation, including a full refund for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday day tickets, as well as a partial, 75% refund on four-day tickets.
